Resumo
The Caatinga, placed in the northeast of Brazil, is characterized by stable temperatures and high seasonality of precipitation, which influences the distribution of species. The soil is derived from two geomorphological formations: a central part of crystalline formation with sedimentary formations at the outskirts. The climatic and geomorphological variations are related to the eight ecoregions of Caatinga. The Caatinga is more recent than other nearby biomes, with colonization and diversification complex processes. Spiders have a great diversity in Caatinga, and the study of its biodiversity has been increasing. This study aims to investigate the process of colonization and diversification of a spider species that happens in Caatinga. We study a nuclear marker (ITS2), a mitochondrial marker (COI), and genomics sequencing (GBS). 340 individuals were collected in 45 different places in the ecoregions of Caatinga, besides Mata Atântica and Cerrado. The analysis of COI and ITS2 markers showed low nucleotide diversity and high haplotype diversity. We found 2 clusters of COI, with the variation between and within clusters with the same order of magnitude (51.5% and 48.5%), but with the biggest variation within the ecoregions (82.3%). The genomic results showed two clusters, the first related to the core of Caatinga and the second at the periphery of the Biome. The genetic structure found with the genomic data confirms that found with the mitochondrial marker, with a cluster at the North and a cluster at the South of Caatinga. The phylogenetic tree showed several lineages, each one related to one ecoregion, geographically grouped, with cluster 1 formed by a monophyletic lineage and cluster 2 formed by a set of lineages. The results suggest a recent diversification of the species, with dispersion from south to north.
