Since its inception in 1981, the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) commits to supporting women surgeons at various stages in their careers – from medical school through retirement. AWS offers programs and services to ENGAGE current and future women surgeons to realize their professional and personal goals. EMPOWER women to succeed. EXCEL in those aspirations through mentorship, education, and a networking community that promotes their contributions and achievements as students, surgeons, and leaders. Currently, AWS has more than 3,185 members in over 40 countries on all 6 continents.
Every year, the Medical Student Committee organizes conferences among the organization's active regions together with AWS Medical Student Chapters.
The AWS Latin America Regional Conference 2024 will occur on March 23rd, in a virtual format, and have a series of panels, keynotes, and workshops to address different aspects of surgical careers through the voices of experts of our region.
