Tribunais Populares: experiências, limites e potências [People’s Tribunals: experiences, potential and limits]

Esta conferência dará encerramento ao Projeto "Transição no Brasil: O Legado do Tribunal Russel II de 1974 na América Latina e a História Contemporânea dos Direitos Humanos", financiado pela FAPERJ, e desenvolvido em parceria pela PUC-Rio, UFRJ, UFPB, UEAM e Birkbeck/Londres.

O vasto arquivo do Tribunal Russell II disponível para os participantes desse projeto, inclui a experiencia de Tribunais Populares, como o Tribunal Popular da Amazônia realizado na década de 90. Considerando a recente multiplicação de Tribunais Populares, a temática do evento abrange não apenas o Tribunal Russell II, mas as experiências subsequentes do Tribunal Permanente dos Povos (TPP) e outros Tribunais Populares como espaços organizados e pensados por diversos atores sociais em diversos países.

This conference marks the conclusion of the project "Transition in Brazil: The Legacy of the 1974 Russell II Tribunal in Latin America and the Contemporary History of Human Rights", financed by FAPERJ, and developed in partnership by PUC-Rio, UFRJ, UFPB, UEAM and Birkbeck/London. 

The vast archive of the Russell II Tribunal, available to the participants of this project, includes the experience of Peoples' Tribunal, such as the Peoples' Tribunal of the Amazon held in the 1990s. Considering the recent multiplication of Peoples' Tribunal, the theme of the event covers not only the Russell II Tribunal , but the subsequent experiences of the Permanent Peoples' Tribunal (PPT) and other Peoples' Tribunal as spaces organized and thought of by diverse social actors in several countries.
