Previous editions of the event have been hosted by Chile (2010), Colombia (2012), Brazil (2016), Mexico (2018) and Chile (2021). In 2025, the VI Congress of the Latin American Risk Analysis Society – SRA-LA 2025 – will be held in person at the Events Center of the Federation of Industries of Paraná – FIEP – in the city of Curitiba, Brazil. The official opening ceremony will be on the morning of the 20th at 9 am, and the closing session is scheduled for the end of the afternoon of the last day, after the award of the authors of the best articles presented.
The event will be a milestone for disaster risk reduction - DRR in Brazil, with the theme "Science and technology for integrated disaster risk management and adaptation to climate change". With the purpose of discussing the development of science and technology to overcome the risks of climate change and intensification of disasters caused, The event will address topics of relevance in the current context. The nine thematic axes are distributed between: Climate change; Environmental Risks and Disasters; Technological Risks and Disasters; Risk Management, Governance and Public Policies in Disaster Risk Reduction; Communication on Disaster Risk Reduction; Education, Community Participation and Networks; Technologies and Innovation in DRR; Health and Environment and Animal Management and Management in Disasters.
The Congress will allow the exchange of information between participants on the most relevant productions and innovations to the participating countries. It will also offer a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences, through presentations of technical and scientific papers , debates, mini-courses, conferences and an exhibition fair.
SRA-LA (https://sra-la.org/) is an organization belonging to the Society for Risk Analysis – SRA (www.sra.org), establishing itself as a multi and interdisciplinary scientific society, which joins forces with public and private initiatives to contribute to the generation of knowledge and solutions to natural disasters in the Latin American continent. SRA-LA works in risk analysis, including assessment, management, perception and communication in different areas of knowledge.
The Center for Studies and Research on Disasters – CEPED/PR (www.ceped.pr.gov.br) is the advisory body of the Civil Defense Coordination of Paraná and is part of the State Policy for Civil Protection and Defense of the state (State Law No. 18.519/2015). One of the attributions is to find new ways to raise funds for research, technological innovation, teaching and extension, as well as to support institutions interested in public notices that wish to count on the support of the Center for the strengthening of integrated disaster risk management. CEPED/PR is also the managing body of the first Brazilian thematic network, entitled "State Network of Research, Teaching, Extension and Technological Innovation aimed at the reduction of risks and disasters in the State of Paraná" (REDESASTRE, Decree No. 12.445/2014).
ABGE is a technical-scientific entity, with more than 1000 members, which brings together students and professionals from the Geology, Engineering and Environmental community and its main objective is to stimulate debate and reflection on topics that aim to subsidize technical decisions regarding the different interventions of society in the physical environment, whether from the point of view of geology, engineering or environmental. The Association also has the Brazilian Committees of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Cartography and Geological Risk, being associated with the International Association for Engineering Geology and Environment – IAEG.
Technical and scientific papers may be submitted in the modalities of Full article or Abstract, following the rules of each one. The presentations of full papers will take place in the rooms of the parallel sessions during the congress, while the abstracts must be presented during the poster sessions of the event. The accepted papers, of both modalities, will be published in the Annals of the Congress, while the best selected papers will be invited to publication in the Brazilian Journal of Engineering and Environmental Geology (ISSN 2237-4590).
